  • The Scarecrow Contest is one of the many attractions offered at the Clinton Scarecrow Festival sponsored by the Clinton Business Improvement Association.
  • Entering a scarecrow is open to all with no registration fee. It is just one of the many free events at the festival. Local residents, businesses, organizations or out of Towner’s can select one of 4 categories to enter their scarecrow creation to compete for fame & fortune.  The four categories offer different options to those entering: Traditional, Whimsical, Children’s & Clinton Businesses.
  • The Business category is open exclusively to all Clinton Business Improvement Area & Affiliate members. Scarecrow creations in the Business Category can be traditional or whimsical. The one business entry that has the highest number of votes will receive a ¼ advertising space in the Clinton News Record.
  • Other than this one category all others are open to individuals, groups, businesses or anyone who would like to enter the contest.
  • The Children’s Division is open to individuals or groups, classes or organizations whose members are 12 or younger.
  • The Traditional Category is open to everyone.  All entries must be made the old fashioned way using materials such as hay, straw, burlap, clothing, farm produce (corn husks, vegetables or pumpkins etc).
  • The Whimsical Category can express the most creativity. Participants can use nearly any material. Their scarecrow could be a cartoon or storybook character or a famous celebrity. Use your imagination!
  • People’s Choice award given to the Scarecrow with the most votes of all.
  • Winners are chosen by popular vote of all who attend the festival & fill out an official ballot. Ballots are available at Millennium Park on September 20. Each entry receives a number & guests may cast their vote on their favourites. Ballots are tallied after 2pm and the winners are announced at approximately 4pm Saturday, September 20 at Millennium Park.
  • Cash prizes are given to the 1st Place winners in the Whimsical, Traditional, Children’s & People’s Choice entries.
  • Scarecrows must be picked up by owners after 4pm on Saturday.
  • There is no entry fee. Participants must fill out & submit an entry form. Entry Forms and contest rules are available at Bartliff’s Bakery, Wilson’s Digital Printing & Office Supplies, Godfather’s Pizza and Side Street Video or online.
